Founded in 2023, DJE Training Academy is a registered, PSIRA-accredited training provider dedicated to producing disciplined, standards-driven security officers and protection specialists. We take candidates from their first Grade E qualification through to supervisory and management-level certification, alongside a full range of specialist and tactical programmes.

Our instructors bring real field experience from policing, private security, and the defence force — so what happens on our training ground reflects what happens on the job.

With over 20 years of experience spanning elite tactical policing, executive/VIP protection, and Personal Security Detachment (PSD) leadership in high-threat international environments, Donald founded DJE Training Academy in 2023 to bring that same field-proven standard to South Africa's next generation of security professionals. He remains active on international close protection deployments, currently serving on a PSD contract in Iraq, while a team of experienced instructors delivers DJE's day-to-day training on the ground in South Africa.

A former Warrant Officer with the SAPS Special Task Force, Donald has served as a Close Protection Officer for South African Presidents, led tactical training as a Special Task Force Instructor in weapons, urban tactics and parachuting, and continues to serve internationally in close protection operations.

  • 20+ years in tactical policing, close protection and PSD leadership, including deployments in Iraq
